Hill Ward Henderson is proud to announce that shareholders Kamala “Kami” E. Corbett, Linda D. Hartley, and Jerilyn H. Reed were selected to Florida Trend’s Legal Elite NOTABLE Women Leaders in Law.
The selection criteria included demonstrated leadership in professional organizations and civic/community service initiatives, mentorship of other attorneys and promotion of professional practices and values in the workplace, and a minimum of 15 years of practice in the legal profession.
Corbett has extensive experience in the areas of land use, comprehensive planning, annexation, Developments of Regional Impact (DRI), zoning, variances, tree removal permits, design exceptions, subdivisions, sign permitting, alcoholic beverage permitting, concurrency agreements, development agreements and all aspects of governmental permitting, including stormwater and environmental permitting. In addition to her land use practice, she also has experience with matters relating to, real estate transactions, code enforcement, public records laws, sunshine laws, the Fair Housing Act, ADA accessibility, with unique experience specializing in hospitality facilities and sports facilities.
Corbett is active in the business community and serves in leadership roles for NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association Tampa Bay Chapter and the Tampa Bay Builder’s Association. She also serves on the all-volunteer board of Housing First, Steps Forward, Inc., a not for profit organization that acquires and rehabilitates housing to serve those community members who have a chronic history of not being able to maintain a stable home environment.
Hartley’s practice is primarily devoted to estate planning, probate, trust and estate administration, post-mortem tax planning, and trust and estate disputes. She works with families to achieve a variety of estate planning objectives, including multi-generational transfer of wealth, succession planning for closely-held businesses, charitable planned giving, and life insurance planning, and modification of irrevocable trusts. She also works with family members and professional fiduciaries through the probate and trust administration process after a death and the related post-mortem tax issues. Her clients include several regional and national banking establishments.
Hartley is active in both professional activities and the community. She is a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Hillsborough County and Florida Bar Associations. She is a past president of the Tampa Bay Estate Planning Council, served as a trustee on the Board of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay and currently serves on its Council of Professional Advisors, and is a past board chair of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Reed is chair of the firm’s Real Estate Group. Her practice includes institutional lending, real property purchase and sale transactions, commercial development and commercial leasing. Reed’s client base is diverse, ranging from real estate developers, national homebuilders, hoteliers, local, regional and national banks, as well as multifamily owners and operators.
She is active in the community, devoting time to philanthropic and professional organizations. As one of her priority commitments, Reed serves as a trustee on the St. Joseph’s Baptist Board of Directors, part of the BayCare Health System.
