Hill Ward Henderson is pleased to share that attorney Tori C. Simmons was recently appointed to serve on the boards of two nonprofit organizations in the Tampa Bay area, Feeding Tampa Bay and Bay Area Legal Services.
Ms. Simmon’s appointment as a board member of Feeding Tampa Bay arises from her longstanding volunteer work and pro bono service for Trinity Café. The two organizations merged after seeing a need to meet the growing changes of food insecure individuals and families in the community. Ms. Simmons provided the legal work on a pro bono basis for the merger that became effective January 1, 2019.
“It is an exciting time for both organizations as we work together to restore dignity and offer innovative solutions and healthy outcomes for all of those that we serve. This merger will provide our volunteers and donors with many more opportunities and programs that help alleviate hunger and provide a hand up to the guests that we serve,” said Trinity Café Founder, Jeff Darrey.
In addition to her service on the Feeding Tampa Bay Board, Ms. Simmons was also nominated to join the Board of Directors for Bay Area Legal Services, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free civil legal services to qualified and low-income residents and nonprofits throughout the Tampa Bay area. Ms. Simmons has served as a pro bono attorney for Bay Area Legal Service’s Volunteer Lawyers Program since 2014.
Ms. Simmons is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Group. Her practice primarily focuses on complex commercial business litigation. Ms. Simmons represents clients in a variety of business disputes and class action litigation in state and federal court. In addition to her general commercial litigation practice, she represents individuals and firms in professional liability matters.
