Hill Ward Henderson is pleased to announce that attorney Cory J. Person has been appointed to serve on the City of Tampa’s Economic Advisory Team. The Advisory Team was formed to advise the city of Tampa on how to reduce economic disparities.
The Economic Advisory Team is modeled after City of Tampa Mayor Jane Castor’s mayoral task forces that she formed in 2019 that evaluate housing affordability, transportation, workforce development, and development services. The work of the Advisory Teams tackle critical issues, including the economic stresses and opportunities that influence our diverse community. The Economic Advisory Team will build upon that work to look at specific challenges and identify new tactical and strategic approaches to effectively position Tampa for its future. Advisory Team members are appointed by the mayor and council members and are tasked to come up with recommendations for the mayor and the Administration to consider in developing priorities.
Person is a shareholder at Hill Ward Henderson, practicing in the firm’s Litigation and Employment Law groups. His practice is primarily focused on the defense of products liability, premises liability, negligent security, general negligence and complex tort claims. Person also has extensive experience representing employers in litigation arising out of discrimination, harassment and non-competition agreements.
Person is active in both professional and Bar-related organizations. He currently serves as a President-Elect of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and is a two-term past president of the George Edgecomb Bar Association. Active in the community, Person serves as a Board Member for the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation, member of the Bay Area Legal Services Development Council, and a Board Member to the City of Tampa Civil Service Board. Prior to law school, Person served as an enlisted non-commissioned officer in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
