Hill Ward Henderson is a proud sponsor of the George Edgecomb Bar Association (GEBA) Scholarship Banquet to be held on April 29th at the Hilton Downtown Tampa. The GEBA is committed to providing funds and other resources for high school students seeking a college education. Each year three $1,500 tuition scholarships are awarded to graduating African-American seniors of Hillsborough County Public Schools. In addition one four-year Florida Prepaid College Tuition is awarded to a ninth grade African-American student in the Hillsborough County Public School district.
The GEBA was founded in 1982 in memory of the late Honorable George E. Edgecomb. The voluntary bar association is dedicated to the promotion and recognition of African Americans within the legal profession and the judiciary. George E. Edgecomb was Hillsborough County’s first African-American judge, the first African-American Chief Assistant County Solicitor and Hillsborough County’s first African-American Assistant State Attorney.
