Hill Ward Henderson Shareholder, R. Craig Mayfield, has been selected by Defense Research Institute (DRI) as the recipient of this year’s national “Richard H. Krochock Award,” which honors an individual who has provided exemplary leadership to the DRI Young Lawyers Committee through sponsorship or participation in its programs and activities, who has provided guidance, support and service as a mentor to the members of the Young Lawyers Committee in addition to promoting those qualities which enhance the public image of the civil defense trial lawyer. The award will be presented at the Awards Luncheon, Thursday, October 8, 2015, featuring keynote speaker Michael R. Beschloss, award-winning historian, best-selling author, New Your Times columnist, and Emmy-winning contributor to NBC news and the PBS News Hour.
DRI is the international membership organization for lawyers involved in the defense of civil litigation. DRI is committed to enhancing the skills, effectiveness and professionalism of defense lawyers; anticipating and addressing issues germane to defense lawyers and the civil justice system; promoting appreciation of the rolls of the defense lawyer and improving the civil justice system and preserving the civil jury.
Mr. Mayfield is in the firm’s Litigation Group and Co-Chair for the Products Liability and Personal Injury Litigation Groups. His practice involves the defense of products liability and high-exposure personal injury claims on behalf of manufacturers and businesses. Representative clients are diverse across industries, from international hotel brands to a large tobacco company in individual smoking and health cases, and various other industrial, medical, commercial and consumer manufacturers.
Mr. Mayfield is extremely active in both professional and Bar-related activities through the DRI with leadership positions that include prior service as National President of DRI's Young Lawyers Committee, and current service as a member of DRI’s Law Institute, responsible for overseeing and approving educational programming for the legal profession at each of DRI’s 50-plus annual seminars and webcasts. He also serves as a member of the national steering committee for DRI's Products Liability Committee, Vice Chair of the DRI President's 21st Century Lawyer Task Force, and as the first-ever United States Country Chair to DRI International.
