Attorney Matthew F. Hall was recently appointed Vice Chair of the Federal Court Practice Committee effective July 1, 2017. He was appointed to this position by The Florida Bar President-Elect, Michael J. Higer. The committee serves as the Bar's liaison to the federal courts, federal bar organizations in Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Judicial Conference, and others interested in federal practice. The Committee distributes to Bar members proposed changes to the federal rules, including local rules for federal courts in Florida, and publishes the Guide to Judicial Practices in Florida's Federal Courts, which describes the practices of individual federal judges in all three Districts and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. The Committee also maintains the Federal Corner on the Bar's website, and hosts the Federal Judicial Roundtable at the annual meeting of the Florida Bar.
Mr. Higer stated in the appointment correspondence to Hall, “I appreciate your dedication to committee service and our profession, and I am confident your leadership skills will greatly contribute to the success of the committee’s goals.”
Mr. Hall is an Associate in Hill Ward Henderson’s Litigation Group. His practice primarily focuses on insurance coverage disputes, general commercial litigation and federal court practice. Prior to law school, Mr. Hall served as an infantryman in the U.S. Army, deploying to Iraq in 2003. During law school, he served as President of the Military Law Students Association and created a scholarship fund for military veterans at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. After law school, Mr. Hall served as a law clerk to Hon. Peter T. Fay at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He is also actively involved in the leadership of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4321 in South Tampa and is a board member with the Mid-Florida Chapter of the National MS Society. Additionally, Hall is a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a Mentor with the Hillsborough County Veterans Treatment Court.
