C. Howard Hunter, Shareholder at Hill Ward Henderson, was recently appointed by Governor Rick Scott to the Thirteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. The Judicial merit selection is a way of choosing judges through appointment, using a non-partisan member commission of lawyers and non-lawyers to locate, recruit, investigate, and evaluate applicants for judicial office. The Commission submits the most highly qualified applicants to the Governor for final selection. The Judicial Nominating Commission has nine members, five appointed directly by the Governor and four are sent from The Florida Bar to the Governor.
Mr. Hunter is a Shareholder in Hill Ward Henderson’s Litigation Group, and heads the Health Care Litigation Team. He serves on the Executive Board of the Gulf Ridge Council of the Boy Scouts of America and is president of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Mr. Hunter will serve on the Thirteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission through July 2016.
