Hill Ward Henderson is pleased to welcome Cory J. Person as a Shareholder in the firm’s Litigation and Employment Law groups. His practice is primarily focused on the defense of products liability, premises liability and complex tort claims. Mr. Person also has extensive experience representing employers in litigation arising out of discrimination, harassment and non-competition agreements.
Mr. Person is active in both professional and Bar-related organizations. He currently serves as a Board Director on the Hillsborough County Bar Association and is a two-term past president of the George Edgecomb Bar Association. He also serves on the Florida Bar Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee, and is a member of the J. Clifford Cheatwood Inn of Court and Defense Research Institute (DRI).
Active in the community, Mr. Person serves as a Board Member for the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation and as a member of the Bay Area Legal Services Development Council.
Mr. Person earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, where he served as president of the UNC Trial Law Academy and Broun National Trial Team. In addition, Mr. Person served as Managing Editor of the UNC First Amendment Law Review, and was the recipient of the Gressman-Pollitt Award for Exemplary Skill in Appellate Advocacy. Mr. Person earned his Bachelor’s degree in political science from Methodist University, magna cum laude.
Prior to law school, Mr. Person served as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Army. Among the awards Mr. Person received for his service are the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
