Recently ABC Action News came to our Tampa office to interview Marie Borland about the nonprofit she recently co-created with Judge Elizabeth Rice called Changing Minds of Tampa Bay, Inc.
The news story is based around Katie Golden, a Plant High School student who recently passed away. During her short, yet beautiful life, Katie was a talented musician and a loving, kind person who, like many kids her age, faced some mental health challenges. The ABC news piece dives into Katie's story and the growing mental health crisis in our community and society as a whole. In the interview, Katie's parents, Dawn and Cliff Golden spoke about the tragic event and how they hope Katie's story will serve as a warning to other families.
Marie's organization, Changing Minds, is committed to reducing the stigmas associated with mental illness and restoring hope, healing and health to the many individuals who are confronting mental health challenges, people just like Katie.
