Overview

Tom Henderson is one of the founding shareholders of Hill Ward Henderson and is vice-chairman of the Firm. Tom's active practice includes all facets of real property law with special focus on land acquisition and development, improved property purchase and sales transactions, finance, title insurance, and survey matters.  Tom has had the privilege of representing many of the nation's largest homebuilders, apartment developers, and commercial developers in connection with their Florida operations and has been instrumental in the development of residential communities and retail centers throughout Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, and Manatee Counties.

Tom is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, The Florida Bar, and the American Bar Association, and he is admitted to practice in all Florida courts and the United States Supreme Court. Tom is a long-standing member of the Executive Council of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar, and, in addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Attorneys since 1990 and a Fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys since 1979, he serves, and has served, on the boards and executive committees of numerous national and statewide legal organizations and councils. 

In addition to his many honors, Tom has been inducted as a lifetime member of the Hall of Fame by Florida Trend’s Legal Elite. He was listed by Super Lawyers as one of the “Top Ten Attorneys in Florida” two years in a row in 2009 and 2010. The international attorney ranking organization Chambers & Partners has honored him as a “Leading Attorney” in its Chambers USA publication every year since 2006, and Tom has been listed consistently in Best Lawyers in America since its inception.

Tom is an active member of many of Tampa's civic, charitable, and social organizations. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Hillsborough County Easter Seal Society, the Tampa Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, and The University of Tampa Board of Counselors, and he is a long-standing member of the Tampa Downtown Partnership Board of Directors. Tom is also an active member of Hyde Park United Methodist Church.
